The Golden Rule: A Secret in Plain Sight

The Golden Rule is a primary precept in nearly all major religions. It is also the foundational rule in both veganism and resourceism . by Michael Corthell The Golden Rule The Golden Rule is the principle or precept of treating others as one wants to be treated. It is a precept that is found in most religions and cultures. It can be considered an ethic of reciprocity in some religions, although different religions treat it differently. The maxim may appear in a positive or negative form governing conduct: Treat others as you would like others to treat you (positive or directive form) Do not treat others in ways that you would not like to be treated (negative or prohibitive form) What you wish upon others, you wish upon yourself (empathetic or responsive form) Moses and Aaron with the Ten Commandments (painting circa 1675 by Aron de Chavez) The Golden Rule Sums Up The Ten Commandments I Am the Lord your God. You shall not have strange gods before me. You shall not make to thyself any

How To Create a Healthy, Happy Life

by Michael Corthell Many people have trouble sticking with their good, healthy habits because they don’t follow a morning routine or don't have a 'system' for doing them. It's easy to forget about a new routine when your day is full. Fortunately, I have a simple suggestion to help solve this problem. If you start following a simple routine every morning, you’ll create a short ritual. You will complete several small good habits that will set you up for creating an organized day. Step by step. I call it a routine/routine. Following a system when you first wake up, means that you’ll have more time to think in a quiet atmosphere and it allows you to be organized for the rest of the day. This daily 'habit routine' helps you create energy and the right mindset to take on the work of a busy day. Before you start going through this menu please remember that getting up early is a habit that almost all successful people follow.  As Benjamin Franklin

Oneness: The Contrast Dilemma

''What we are trying to arrange in our world's dominant socio-economic and spiritual system, is a sort of life game where everyone wins, and no one loses, essentially trying to have yin without yang, which is like trying to have a front without a back. Or, creating a world where everyone is somebody, but everyone ends up being a nobody. Most, at least in the first world, are chasing an existence where everyone is happy all the time, but this is impossible because to be happy we must know unhappiness. The solution is Oneness and experiencing all the up and down waves of life...because all is one and there can be no separation.'' Michael Corthell

ETHICS | The Power of Choice: Veganism or Carnism

by Michael Corthell The choices you will make today could alter the  course of your life  forever -- for both you and the lives around you. From an ethical standpoint, it is now commonly accepted that one individual's right to choose ends at the point where exercising that right does harm to another being (or shared asset such as nation or the Earth.) So, while it might be legal and customary to carelessly kill and eat animals(carnism), it is not ethical.  Being vegan is a choice, so is being a carnist. (See: BEYOND CARNISM ) Life is a series of choices I've put together the top 100 quotes on the subject of life choices, plus this excellent video that makes the argument that if we do not choose wisely, not only will we suffer, but others will suffer as well. “Some people are cowards… I think by and large a third of people are villains, a third are cowards, and a third are heroes. Now, a villain and a coward can choose to be a hero, but they’ve got to make tha
