The Golden Rule: A Secret in Plain Sight

The Golden Rule is a primary precept in nearly all major religions. It is also the foundational rule in both veganism and resourceism . by Michael Corthell The Golden Rule The Golden Rule is the principle or precept of treating others as one wants to be treated. It is a precept that is found in most religions and cultures. It can be considered an ethic of reciprocity in some religions, although different religions treat it differently. The maxim may appear in a positive or negative form governing conduct: Treat others as you would like others to treat you (positive or directive form) Do not treat others in ways that you would not like to be treated (negative or prohibitive form) What you wish upon others, you wish upon yourself (empathetic or responsive form) Moses and Aaron with the Ten Commandments (painting circa 1675 by Aron de Chavez) The Golden Rule Sums Up The Ten Commandments I Am the Lord your God. Accountability, Justice and Forgiveness

“Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.” ― Oscar Wilde It is wrong, it is immoral, (and futile) for anyone to seek to escape the consequences of their acts. Trying to wiggle out of it only compounds your negative consequences. Karma is a real thing based on the laws that govern the Universe. See Essay: Compensation by Ralph Waldo Emerson

American Patriotism vs Nationalism: Where do you stand?

by Michael Corthell January 25, 2021 Nationalism and patriotism can be viewed as two sides of the same coin but there is a major gulf between the two. America is an exceptional nation, I say this not because I was lucky enough to be born here. I believe that America is exceptional because of the shared values, and our willingness to help other countries share our experience by enjoying the same types freedoms written into our Constitution . Writings from our country’s founders show men who envisioned a land made up of oppressed peoples from all the nations on Earth who were fleeing political or religious tyranny. Today, as I write this America just survived an insur

Veganism is the Cure for Injustice

[Woke?]...now's the time(because the alarm is going off...)

woke : [adjective]  alert to injustice in society, especially racism. “Human beings are a part of the animal kingdom, not apart from it. The separation of "us" and "them" creates a false picture and is responsible for much suffering. It is part of the in-group/out-group mentality that leads to human oppression of the weak by the strong as in ethic, religious, political, and social conflicts.” ― Marc Bekoff

[Just Imagine] a new world, a one nation world of free people...

“Loyalty to country ALWAYS. Loyalty to government, when it deserves it.” ― Mark Twain Nationalism(in any country) is like this; people will do great acts of evil for what they perceive is the common good if they can spread out the guilt of those acts among the many. “I love America more than any other country in the world and, exactly for this reason, I insist on the right to criticize her perpetually.” ― James Baldwin
