Creating Heaven or Hell on Earth: A New Thought Perspective

Michael Corthell In  New Thought philosophy, the concepts of heaven and hell are not seen as distant, otherworldly realms to be encountered after death. Instead, they are understood as states of mind, directly influenced by our thoughts, beliefs, and consciousness. This perspective shifts the responsibility of creating heaven or hell away from external forces or divine judgment and places it squarely in the hands of each individual. Through our daily choices and inner attitudes, we hold the power to create our own heaven or hell on Earth. Understanding this principle is not only liberating but also profoundly transformative, empowering us to shape our lives and experiences in alignment with the highest ideals. The Power of Thought Central to New Thought philosophy is the assertion that thought is a creative force. “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he,” the Bible states, and this idea is a cornerstone of New Thought. Our thoughts shape our perception of reality, influenc...

The Kingdoms of Heaven and Hell Exist Inside Us All

"At the core of our being, the Kingdoms of Heaven and Hell intertwine, and we are reminded of our power to choose either state of consciousness." Preface ''I've been wanting to write this article for quite a while now. My grandfather, who was born in the late 19th century and lived through some of the most significant moments in American history—like World War I, a global pandemic, a worldwide economic depression, and another world war—used to say to anyone who would listen, "Hell and even Heaven aren't actual places. They're more like states of mind or ways of thinking." It took me a while to grasp exactly what he meant, but after experiencing my own heavens and hells and studying some, the following is my take on what I think he was trying to say.'' — Michael Corthell Introduction The concept of the Kingdom of Heaven has been approached from different perspectives, and two key viewpoints emerge: one emphasizing the Kingdom of Hea...

[Suffering] The hell you say?

“What is hell? I maintain that it is the suffering of being unable to love.” ― Fyodor Dostoevsk Everyone has the right to create their own hell as long as they can keep others out of it.  “Maybe this world is another planet’s hell.” ― Aldous Huxley

Why are You in Hell Pilgrim?

www.MichaelCorthell.com We create our own hell -- it is the sum of all our decisions (exception: sometimes we are placed there). How do we escape even if we are not the cause? The only thing anyone needs to do in order to escape hell is to love God*, his creation, each other and have faith(be positive). We are to understand that there is one God and that God created all things -- that is it. We play with fire when we claim to love God, but not all his creation. If you hate your neighbor, you hate God and you have arrived in hell. *My definition of what God is an 'all is one' belief. God is all and in all. God manifests itself in every created thing. You are a manifestation of God, as well as your dog, you cat a pine tree and a blade of grass. The spirit of God is omnipresent. All is in one, and one is in all. Of course your version of God may differ.
