No Worries: Living in Day-Tight Compartments

by Michael Corthell

How much time and energy do you spend worrying about tomorrow? Do you worry about what will happen next week? Or, what will happen next year? You can plan your life out, but you still need to manage the present.

''Our main business is not to see what lies dimly
at a distance, but to do what lies clearly at hand.''

—Thomas Carlyle

What worries you? The future? Today is a safe place. It is a place to live securely to plan an even better tomorrow. How can you live in 'day-tight compartments' to turn the tide against worry and make yourself productive?

Here are some of the basics:

Love yourself. When we are worried about a big problem there are people who will support us and those who won't. Listen and feel the energy of those who support you. Reject the ones who don't.  Then give yourself a hug. Use positive affirmations and tell your subconscious mind all positives about yourself.

Always keep your sense of humor. You may have to fake it 'til you make it but smile and find humor in all you can. It's everywhere — something that will make you laugh.

Stay busy. Living in day tight compartments doesn't mean not preparing for tomorrow. It means you take care of what can be done within this day. Remember any good idea requires action. Take action, do not be idle.

Just for today, live in today, in the present. Live and feel safe in a 'day-tight' compartment. Take what God gives you today and take action and deal with what comes along. And not only accept what He gives you, but be GRATEFUL for it as well.

Today is the perfect gift, from the perfect gift-giver, God, regardless of whether you think it is right for you. Look to this day:

Salutation To The Dawn

Look to this day!
For it is life, the very life of life.
In its brief course
Lie all the verities and realities of your existence:
The bliss of growth
The glory of action
The splendor of beauty,
For yesterday is but a dream
And tomorrow is only a vision,
But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this day!
Such is the salutation to the dawn.
The Bhagavad Gita. Also attributed to the Indian poet Kalidasa.

Don't let worry about what might happen tomorrow seep into today. Today is all we can truly have and need. And it is always, 'right now'. Once it is done, you don’t need to return to it. It is impossible, but people do try. Don't be one of them.

Accept what God gives you today and let Him help you plan all your tomorrows. You don't have to settle for anything negative.

Live with positive passion — this day belongs to you, it is all you have.
